I was thinking about this driving to work today. Have you thought about getting a corner fireplace and mounting from the corner where the driveway and stairwell meet? I think that could maximize space in the room rather than doing one straight on the wall towards the driveway. Here is a link with what I am picturing :)

Don't put in built in's. I regret putting them in at the cabin or at least leave one corner open. I need extra seating now and need to rip out one built in. What a pain in the ass that is going to be. Removing the arch might not be very cost effective, FYI.

I wouldn't take down the arches if I were you, I like them. As dark as the dining room is, it isn't like we use it for anything but Christmas and Thanksgiving and that's what they created light bulbs for. I really think taking down the arches is a bad idea. As for the foyer, as long as it doesn't make it colder than it already is in the house, I think that would be a good idea.

I am so excited to see the transformation!!!!!

I think you need to go with the one with the black storage unit underneath it. The first one has exposed plumbing... And if exposed plumbing doesn't bother you... Then leave the old sink. And the other one is just "okay" for me. Hope this helps : )
