Have you thought about getting a corner fireplace and mounting from the corner where the driveway and stairwell meet? I think that could maximize space in the room rather than doing one straight on the wall towards the driveway. As dark as the dining room is, it isn't like we use it for anything but Christmas and Thanksgiving and that's what they created light bulbs for. I really think taking down the arches is a bad idea. As for the foyer, as long as it doesn't make it colder than it already is in the house, I think that would be a good idea. I am so excited to see the transformation!!!!!
